Weekly fishing report ending March 30 – Captain Jeff Brandon

We had some beautiful weather on the water this week, and the fish were cooperating on our early morning trips. We started out each morning with low tides and fished a strong incoming tide, which allowed us the opportunity to hit a number of different areas and presentations, and we were able to get on the bite rather quickly. Water temperatures were in the mid to upper 60s, and water clarity is getting better by the day. The winds have been kind as well, with directions ranging from North to NW, SW, SE, and South, but were able to fish areas that gave us the best protection. We fished only artificial trips this week, and depending upon the day and time, the bite was anywhere from finicky to jerk the rod out of your hand, so it made for some wonderful experiences on the bay. We had days where fishing a ¼ oz jig, bouncing off the bottom, was triggering the most bites, to times when a under a popping cork was getting the most action. Our biggest trout this week came under a popping cork, and magic grass in the supermodel was the winner from DownSouth. We fished a number of other tactics including top waters and suspending hard baits, but the Tails on jig heads were the overall winner.

If you are looking to get out on the water and beat the crowds, now is the perfect time to make it happen, and as always, we will design a trip around your expectations, and guarantee you will have a great time fishing Galveston Bay.
