Surface water temperature has reached 85 degrees in East Galveston Bay, creating ideal conditions for catching Specks around protected shorelines, over scattered shell, as well as Redfish along grass lines. 1/8 oz jig heads and light color paddle-tailed lures are proving highly effective on our trips. Our clients are achieving great success using Fish Smack Popping corks with tails, and imitation shrimp lures, as well as topwater baits, especially during early morning and late afternoon outings. As the bay system continues to thrive, we’re seeing more solid fish on the reefs and a promising increase in larger Trout over the past few weeks in our summer spots. If possible, to avoid fishing pressure, consider fishing on weekdays, if at all possible, as it is the busiest I have seen it out here over the last few years on East Galveston Bay.
